Catholic Daughters of the Americas

Court Queen of the Americas 2418

Mission Statement:

Catholic Daughters of the Americas strives to embrace the principle of faith working through love in the promotion of justice, equality and the advancement of human rights and human dignity for all.

Catholic Daughters is the nation's oldest and largest organization of Catholic women in America. Our motto is Unity and Charity. Local groups are called Courts.

What is a Catholic Daughter?  A Catholic Daughter is 18 years or over and may be single, married or a religious; and could be your mother, daughter, sister, aunt, cousin, in-law or friend.  Her talents and abilities are directed to the aid of the needs of many, the youth, the elderly and the sick.  Her most valuable assets are a friendly smile, a listening ear, a helping hand and a generous heart.  The most precious gift she offers is herself as she goes about making this world a better place for her family, friends and those she reaches and serves.  A Catholic Daughter is a joy to know.

Court Queen of the Americas #2418 was instituted in October 1995. Catholic Daughters are very involved in the parish activities, i.e. Sweetery Booth at the Fiesta, Lenten Soup Kitchen and the Baby Shower every year.  The Catholic Daughters also sponsors its members who want to participate in the March of Dimes, Susan G Komen Cancer Walk and other charitable causes.

The court holds 10 meetings a year on the 3rd Monday of each month in the Parish Center.  Membership dues are $25.00 per year.

The Catholic Daughters were founded in 1903 by the Knights of Columbus in Utica, New York.  The organization was originally known as the Daughters of Isabella.  In 1921 the organization's name was changed to the Catholic Daughters of the Americas.  The national headquarters are located in New York.  Catholic Daughters are active in 44 states and in Mexico, Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic, Virgin Islands, Guam and Saipan.

Each member shares in the good works of the entire organization with little effort on the part of one individual.

Court meetings are democratic – members vote on the amount of dues, contributions to charity and all the decisions concerning their activities.

Please consider joining our group.  Anyone is welcome to come to our meetings.  For more information please call Mary Bernard at 818-362-9011 or Valerie O'Reilly at 818-833-7510.
