Preparation Program for the First Communion Sacrament
We hope that the preparation of your son/daughter will be an enriching experience for your entire family. Working together, we can give a religious education filled with positive benefits that can result in a family that understands and lives their faith to the fullest. With our Lord's help this preparation will guide families to live a closer and spirit filled life. Your family will be nutured by the word of God, experience full, conscious, and active participation in Sunday Mass, and share the Gospel at home and with family and friends.
The program consists of two years of prepartion. The classes are:
Spanish ~ Tuesday, 3:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Spanish ~ Saturday, 8:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m.
English ~ Wednesday, 3:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
English ~ Saturday, 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
Requirements for Baptism
- If the parents live within St. Didacus Parish boundaries, they are required to register in the Parish.
- Attendance at one Pre-Baptism class is required of the parents and Godparents.
- Pre-Baptism classes are held the first Friday of every month in English at the Parish Center at 7:30 p.m. , and on the first Wednesday of every month in Spanish in the Parish Hall at 7:00 p.m.
- Attendance at a Pre-Baptism class in another parish is acceptable, but a certificate of proof is required.
- After attending the class, the Parents must call to make an appointment with one of the priests to fill out the Baptismal record form and to select the SUNDAY they wish to Baptize.
- The parents are asked to bring a copy of the child's birth certificate or hospital certificate to the appointment with the priest.
- Baptisms are held every SUNDAY AT 3:00 p.m. Spanish Baptisms: The first and third Sunday's of the month. English Baptisms: The second and fourth Sunday's of the month.
- If the parents are living in or registered in another parish, they need to bring permission from that parish to the meeting with the priest, in order to baptize here.
Requirements for Godparents
- One Godparent, male or female, is sufficient.
- The Godparent's must be practicing Catholics (attending weekly Mass and frequent reception of the sacraments)
- The Godparent's must be confirmed and be at least 18 years old.
- If the Godparent's are married, they must be married in the Catholic Church.
- One Godparent may be a non-Catholic Christian (a Christian Witness) who is practicing their faith. This excludes those who were formerly Catholic.
- Non-Christians may not stand as Godparents for a Catholic Baptism.

Adult Confirmation Classes
This class is offered to adults who have already received Baptism and First Holy Communion. Class begins on Monday, March 2, 2009 at 7:00 p.m.
Attendence at all 10 classes is required. Please call the Parish Office (818) 367-6181 to register for the class. Bring copies of your Baptism and First Commnunion certificates to the first class.
